How it Works for the Performer
One Audition, multiple job opportunities. StrawHat Auditions are
open to non-Equity Musical Theatre performers age 18 and older. Positions
are available in summer theatres, production and entertainment companies,
cruise ships, theme parks, and special events.
Fees: 2024 Registration/annual subscription: $42 (non-refundable)
NOTE: Annual
Subscription periods run from November 1st to October 1st of the following
year.
Registration: Complete the online form and submit your non-refundable
annual subscription fee (see INSTRUCTIONS). Select your Audition Type as a Song
& Monologue, Monologue Only, Dancer Who Sings (see AUDITION TYPES). Upon
confirmation of your registration payment, you will receive notification via
email and your dashboard status will change. This notification is not automatic,
so please allow for administrative processing time.
Submission/Application: Your submission must include posting of a 90-second video
audition and is incomplete without it (see AUDITION VIDEO ADVICE).
Website: Your
OnLine Casting Profile is a resource used by member theatres. You have an
option to renew your registration/subscription in the fall, and you can update
your profile at any time.
Virtual Dance Call Teaching: Links to the Virtual Dance call tutorials are posted on the Virtual Dance Call page in Premium Content, along with full instructions and audio playback links for your self-tape. Dancers Who Sing and Song & Monologue performers are expected to learn, self-tape, and submit their dance videos by February 3rd. After that date, the links will be removed.
Casting: Registered companies can be found in the Theatre Search. Casting representatives may choose to actively use the Actor Search database, OR they may post their own submission instructions in their company listings. See individual company listings for details about their seasons, casting breakdowns, etc. There is no "Watch Party" or set dates when all casting reps are viewing videos: they will work at their own pace on their own time. It is your responsibility to check in on the site regularly to see updates and new listings, and to follow up on opportunities presented. Check your email regularly!
NOTE: Registration/subscription
fee is non-refundable.
Thank you for your interest in participating this year!
